Discussion and Debate
This evening of conversation with Florida’s preeminent historians promises a special experience. Jack E. Davis is the author of the award-winning An Everglades Providence: Marjory Stoneman Douglas and the American Environmental Century, a dual biography of America's premier wetlands and the woman who led the movement to save it. Davis, who writes for the intellectually curious audience, is also an excellent speaker. He makes history leap off the page by putting you in the story and relating history to our experience of life today.
“An astonishing work of environmental history, sweeping in its narrative scope while also being wonderfully intimate in its richness of detail. The march of history and the vibrancy of place live on its every page, and the environmental story it tells could not make for more urgent reading in these perilous times.”
— Darcy Frey, Harvard University
