Campfires and Campfire Cooking at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park
Topsail Hill Preserve State Park Adventures in July:
JUL 11 | 2-3pm
Campfires and Campfire Cooking | Come learn about campfires. This all ages program will take place outside around the campfire ring at the amphitheater. You will learn safety, cooking techniques, and a host of other useful ideas that will make your campfires more enjoyable. Enter the park through the main gate and the staff will direct you to the park's clubhouse, entry fee is $6.00.
JUL 18 | 2-3pm
Coastal Critters | Topsail Hill Preserve State park invites you to a hands on program where you will learn what type of creatures can be found in this area. You will get to see various bones, shells, seeds, and other things you can find on the beach and in the woods. This program includes both sea and land critters, and is fun for all ages. Park entry fee is $6 and the park staff will direct you to the clubhouse where the program will be held.
JUL 23 | 3-4pm
Beach Mice | Topsail Hill Preserve State Park presents a program on the endangered Choctawhatchee Beach Mouse. They live in a fragile habitat near the beach and only come out at night. Come learn what we to do monitor and protect this important species. Enter the park through the main gate and the staff will direct you to the park's clubhouse, entry fee is $6.00.
JUL 25 | 2-3pm
Surf Fishing | Surf fishing is a popular sport along the beaches of Topsail Hill. This program will teach you what types of bait will work, what times of year certain fish can be caught, and common fish you can catch from the beach. Fishing gear is optional, the park has fishing gear. This program will take place at the Beach Access, park in the Day Use parking area and catch the 11:00am Tram to the beach. The program will take place once the 11:00am Tram arrives at the beach. Park entry fee Is $6.00.
AUG 1 | 2-3pm
Sea Turtles | The majestic Sea Turtles have begun another reproductive season. Last year was one of the best on record at the park. Learn the basic facts about common Sea Turtles found at Topsail. Be a part of an enlightening program and see what you can do to help preserve these awe inspiring creatures of the sea. This program will take place in the clubhouse, upon entering the park the staff will direct you to the clubhouse, entry fee is 6.00. This program is suitable for all ages.
