NFSO 30th Season Concert: Stars of Tomorrow Meet Haydn
The Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra's 30th Season finale concert in the Mainstage Theater is Friday, May 5, 2017 with a STARS OF TOMORROW MEET HAYDN concert at 7:30 pm (CT) at the Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center in Niceville, Florida.
Winners of the 30th annual NFSO Guild Concerto Competition perform at this family-friendly concert and the NFSO also presents Haydn's famous "Lord Nelson Mass" featuring the orchestra and the Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale.
The NFSO Guild sponsors the prestigious Concerto competition for talented young musicians from 17 North Florida Counties and awards generous cash prizes to winners in junior (middle school), senior (high school) and college divisions. Winners are also invited to perform with the NFSO at the orchestra's annual concert for area 5th grade students as well as the Stars of Tomorrow concert.

Individuals performing at the STARS OF TOMORROW CONCERT MEET HAYDN concert include Concerto Competition
Junior Division winner: Filippo Aldrovandi-Reina, Violin, of Tallahassee; performing the Haydn Violin Concerto in G Major, first movement
Senior Division winner: Skyler Covert, Violin, of Gainesville, a home school student/dual enrolled at the University of Florida, performing Brahms Violin Concerto in D Major, first movement
College Division winner: Hank Landrum, Clarinet, of Pensacola, a student at FSU, performing the Crusell Clarinet Concerto No. 3, first movement.
In the second half of the concert, the soloists for the "Lord Nelson Mass" include Suzanne Rigden, soprano; Monika Cosson, mezzo soprano; Thomas Rowell, tenor; and André Chiang, bass, along with the entire 60-voice Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale, under the direction of Michael Dye.
The Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra (NFSO) is the Emerald Coast’s premier, fully professional orchestra - since 1987! The NFSO performs in residence at the magnificent $30 million Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center, located at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. NFSO concerts are held in the center’s 1,650 mainstage theater where a custom orchestra shell provides the optimum in acoustics for symphony patrons.
