Sea Turtle Release at Front Beach Rd Panama City Beach
Gulf World Marine Institute is happy to announce that Simmons, a loggerhead sea turtle will be released Thursday, Oct 26th at 9:30 am across from the Carousel Supermarket at 19400 Front Beach Rd, Panama City Beach, FL 32413.
Simmons was reported to be floating abnormally offshore of Tyndall Airforce Base. The sea turtle was brought by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) researchers to the NOAA lab where Gulf World received the animal and diagnostics were performed by veterinary staff at Gulf World Marine Institute. The animal was suffering from a head wound that we suspect was a result of being preyed upon. Simmons was treated with pain medication and antibiotics. The wound site has successfully healed and the animal has been medically cleared for release.
The public is invited to attend this event.
Sea Turtle release events are fun and exciting as we watch them carefully placed into the Gulf...
