Sounds of the Season
The Sounds of the Season will take place at Village Baptist Church on Friday, Dec. 1 starting at 7pm. The 22nd Annual Sounds of the Season carries on its tradition of a community Christmas concert featuring special guest artist, Sarah Simmons Langston and a variety of traditional and sacred Christmas music.
This year’s concert will feature guest artist, Sarah Simmons Langston and accompanying her on stage will be her husband, Greg Langston. In 2013, Sarah wowed her way onto the NBC’s “The Voice” resulting in all four chairs turning and advancing to the Final Eight. She majored in voice and worship leadership at the University of Mobile before transferring to the Memphis-based Visible Music College where she met her husband. They write, record and tour together.
“We are so excited to be a part of the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s Sounds of the Season bringing some Christmas favorites that we all know,” Sarah Simmons Langston said.
The Mattie Kelly Community Chorus represents a diverse group of men and women from several local churches and residents in our community. The chorus is open to all members of the community, including area church choir members and winter residents. To participate, please join one of the following rehearsal schedules on Wednesday evenings: Destin United Methodist Church (Choir Room – 6:30 p.m.) or Village Baptist Church (Choir Room – 7 p.m.). A group rehearsal will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to noon at Village Baptist Church. A final rehearsal will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. at Village Baptist Church.
Admission is a donation of a new unwrapped child’s toy to be distributed among the participating church’s outreach ministries to provide a brighter Christmas for families in need during the holidays. A love offering at intermission will benefit the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s community outreach initiatives benefiting students, adults and children with special needs, at-risk youth and wounded warriors with visible and invisible injuries in Okaloosa and Walton counties.
