The Walton County Fair, Inc. was chartered in 1924 as an Agricutlure Fair that has always been committed to promoting agriculture in the community. The Fair provides an opportunity for youth and adults alike to showcase their talents for artwork, handicrafts, growing crops, rearing livestock, etc. This is an excellent forum to bring the community together for great food, fun, and entertainment. The fair continues to update the areas for exhibits and entertainment. Exhibits at the fair still include animal, art, agriculture, handicrafts, potted plants, photography, and canned foods divisions.
Every year the children from all over Walton County decorate pumpkins and bring them to the fair. Children also have the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents with animals, speeches and educational posters.
In recent years many new events have been added. Everyone looks forward to the baking contest with excitement because the baked goods are judged and then auctioned off on opening night. Free children's activities were introduced in 2004. The Treasures in a Haystack, 4-Legged Critter Scramble, and Greased Pig Contest provide great fun for the children.
Entertainment is a big deal at the fair. Each year the building is filled with music - from gospel to country and western performers. The gospel sing on Saturday night has become a great hit and much-anticipated event.
