Voice For Reasonable Development Getting Ousted From Planning Commission

The Board of Walton County Commissioners had a lengthy meeting on April 9. The largest topic on the agenda was whether or not to remove Fred Tricker from the Planning Commission after he was hand-selected by Commissioner William McCormick to represent the District 1 seat. McCormick started...

    Deforestation of Walton County

The cynic in me says she will get torpedoed. If she gets elected she'll be neutered or a lone dissenter. Although one voice is better then nothing I guess. Look at the BCC recent history. The pro development faction got control and have had a stranglehold for awhile now.

Watercolor sues Walton county to take back beach easements, close Van Ness Butler Jr. Access

Perhaps that is because if you physically go there you would also be in error. If true is it simply now a Seaside and WaterColor parking lot? Perhaps the county should put a 4 story parking garage on it. And autonomous bus depot. And something loud that runs 24/7. J/K

    WalCo Fix It Now

Watersound Parkway backed up the full length yesterday at 530pm headed north. Probably needs to be 4-laned and/or proper tun lanes added on each end. The sad part is they just added a turn lane on north end and that end was the one backed up.

Is South Walton A Good Place To Vacation?

I saw a recent TDC report and was wondering why the decline? Is it true what some say that the lack of beach access (private beaches) and more people are making tourists go elsewhere? A decrease in the number of visitors and a 9.4% decrease in room rates led to a decrease in direct spending...

I haven't heard much talk lately about a City of "South Walton". Any news? It came to mind as I saw an article about the meeting of Pince De Leon City Council and I thought to myself, self? Ponce De Leon has a CITY GOVERNMENT!? Dang fo they even have a stoplight? Google says 501 people live...

Parking Madness Coming to Scenic Gulf Highway!

Illegal chains, signs and obstructions should be removed everywhere in Walton County. Somehow neighbors in certain neighborhoods like next to Stallworth Lake have taken the right of way from the public. Scenic Gulf Drive shoulders should be paved like some areas along 30A. Speed limit probably...

    Trespassing on the Beach

The plan is to hire 10 initially. If pay is decent (with benefits I assume) I don't see why it will be a problem to hire 10 people to work on the beach. Most people would say that's a plum job, and most beach goers are easy going. Unless they've been pushed around by beach owners or private...

Tornadoes cause damage in SoWal area 1/9/24

A sprawling storm hit the South with tornado warnings and high winds that blew roofs off homes, flipped over campers and tossed about furniture in Florida on Tuesday. Another storm brought cities across the Midwest to a standstill with more than half a foot of snow, stranding people on highways...

Pedestrian Tunnel Construction at East Scenic 30A & 98 Inlet Beach

I drove through the other day and the lanes are finally back to "normal" and looks like the underpass is close to completion. It's been a very long project with a lot of disruption. I hope it is worth it. Still seems like a favor to 30Avenue to attract Rosemary Beach and Inlet Beach tourist...

Beachfront Owners Suing to remove County Public Beach Access at Sugar Dunes

Once again, Sugar Dunes Owners show the world they are the worst kind of people SoWal has ever seen. Keywords: Never rent at Sugar Dunes. Sugar Dunes is the worst. Sugar Dunes is terrible. Sugar Dunes in Seagrove is awful. Sugar Dunes in South Walton gets zero stars. Sugar Dunes is the worst...

Possible New Beach Access in Dune Allen Beach

The county "stabilized" the outfall and prevented it from eroding adjacent lots. They now have even more incentive to do so. I just hope that some of the materials from 2 houses can be recycled instead of sent directly to the landfill.

30A Closed at Deer Lake For Bridge Replacement On Oct 30, 2023

30A Closed at Deer Lake For Bridge Replacement On Oct 30, 2023

That's quite an cavalier attitude for a business like Old Florida Fish House that could see 1/2 or less of normal revenues. There are businesses on 30A that require the normal amount of tourist traffic to even cover expenses and make a living. It remains to be seen which ones have enough...
