The Last 5 Years opens March 21 at the Rep

Yep, Steelemama and Oldtimer plus the real oldtimers, Mama Sis and Daddy Brown will be there and most likely some one will be embarassing the star of the show. We love Steeling1 and all the family....quirks and all! More drugs, Mama! OT

    Redneck Riviera??

AMEN to that, Sister! Times have certainly changed since the time that #2 Sibling and I attended Pt. Washington School!!! Now, that was quite an experience for us city slicker kids. We both actually had shoes and wore them to school. The hot lunches were quite tasty if I remember correctly...

    Redneck Riviera??

Yep, there's certainly nothing to be ashamed of to have just a little "red" around the neck. Just consider me, "Redneck and proud!" :clap_1:
  5. O

    Redneck Riviera??

Yes, the word "redneck" has many meanings, some not so flattering and some that are just the plain ole truth! I am educated and well traveled, but I consider myself to be a "redneck" in many, many ways...not in a bad way at all. Grayton Beach was settled and inhabited by mostly "rednecks"...

    kenny rogers

I must admit I just bought his new CD today ($7.50 at Walmart) and I still love Kenny, just hate what he had done to himself to try to stay "youthful", which we all know he isn't. I like Kenny....still after all these years! :lolabove:

    atlanta invasion, resaurant opinions needed

Nobody has even mentioned The Varsity! Now they do have some tasty treats and the price is so easy on the pocketbook. I could go for a chili dawg with greasy onion rings right now. YUM!! YUM!! Maybe we'll do that for Thanksgiving dinner this year. How does that sound?

    Call for vintage SoWal photos...

Heck, when I was a kid, there wasn't even a road from Grayton to Seagrove (Seaside had not even been invented). We used to walk on the beach from Grayton to Seagrove, then to Point Washington by the hard road. There was an old country type store and we'd usually get lucky and someone we...

    crabbing in Grayton

Our dock is on Western Lake sort of near where Patone's used to be and we have never minded other folks using our dock for crabbing or just sitting and enjoying breezes and views. Might be nice to say hello to the folks using the PINK house when you visit the dock. Most likely some of our...

    Photos - Grayton Parade - July 4 2006

You have a great eye, SJ! Thanks for taking all the pictures and making time to post for everyone. We had fun, but it was HOT! We had a big time with lots of chaos and laughter. The parade was amazing this year.

    Wireless Internet Access?

We don't have the heated pool or adjacent hot tub, but you can park in the "lot" at the PINK house at Grayton and use our wireless connection. Just don't leave your car and go to the Red Bar for dinner! :rolling: :funn:

    D&K's

Agreed...PINK ROCKS! :clap_1: :clap_1: Our house is not for Architectural Digest, but it has served the purpose for 50 years. It started out as boring white, but has PINK for decades now. I can't say that I love the color, but I do like that it's (or it used to be) a bit different.

    Onano Neighborhood Cafe - review

Better question: Was the experience comped or did you pay retail? Sounds wonderful, but also sounds pricey. Thanks for the review. With Borago so close to our place, I rather doubt we'll make the drive, unless it's for wine in the sun!

What time is Grayton's July 4 parade?

I agree about the fireworks. Just don't do the beach after dark on the 4th. I'm usually too tired anyway so it doesn't bother me. :funn:

Any info or review of Pandora's in GB?

My personal review is "don't go". We made the mistake of eating there last night and it was bad. The waitress was great and we did get our "nice dogs strange people" bumper stickers, but the crabcakes were gross and the shrimp not much better. However, our dining guests had steak and they...

What time is Grayton's July 4 parade?

Having been in just about every Grayton Beach 4th of July parade since the beginning of time....I can say that you wouldn't even say that "Rosemary Beach" and/or "Seaside" were in the same league as the Grayton parade. Last year's parade was so organized and full of paraders I almost forgot...

Sunset at Grayton Beach - Mar 30 2006

Absolutely awesome sight. Thanks, SJ, for continuing to share. Watch out for the PINK house....we'll be rocking this weekend. I think we have a full house of family and friends. Some of us are helping with the Habitrot for steeling2. Hope to see you! Stop by if you have a minute.

Hotel Viridian on corner of 30A & 395 - Seagrove Market location

Re: goodbye Seagrove Market Well, said, Baby Sis, but as much fun as the Red Bar is and as much as we all enjoy going there and Borago, too, I still long for the old times and the truly laid back days when THE STORE was the THE place and no one locked their doors and there were no rules...

    Dec. 30 @ Pandora...still on?

Will everyone be wearing a party hat? Or a SoWal sticker? Is there a special, double secret handshake? Sounds like fun and a few of "old" folks may join you kids for the early part of the evening. We plan to arrive late on the 30th, but we'll check you out. OT

Hotel Viridian on corner of 30A & 395 - Seagrove Market location

Re: goodbye Seagrove Market Isn't that just so special? :pissed: :pissed: Greed will eventually ruin all the things that made 30-A "paradise". If folks want the Ritz, let them go where they are. We like the simple, folksy atmosphere that we used to have all along 30-A. Happy New...

What's the deal with all these gated communities?

Granny (aka Mama Sis, the Queen) is doing much, much better. She is really looking forward to our family party. After a thorough inspection by the Mayo Clinic staff she was found to be "well" and we are so thankful. Now we just have to keep her spirits up. Hope you and M'man are staying...

What's the deal with all these gated communities?

I HATE gated communities and you'll NEVER find me living in a place that has a gate or security booth at the entrance (hope I don't have to "eat" my words). Here in Tampa Bay area the "gated communitiy" is a real prestige thing and I think it is totally annoying. We visit friends in those...

    Christmas Carol

Love the dancing elves! Are you ready for Christmas? We'll be partying at the PINK house next weekend. Will you take our sunset family photo? I'm not kidding....we all take our cameras and usually ask a random stranger to do it, but you are way better than a "random stranger". This year...
