South Walton Tourism Exploded in 2012

I agree. Happy to have to slow season not quite so slow this year. If we can handle the number of tourists by spreading out the business over the year, that would be great.

Scenic 30A now 25 MPH between Watercolor and Grayton

If that were the only "slow" spot! Try waiting through the 395 intersection, only to run the gauntlet of Seaside, then Watercolor and now on to Grayton. Add that up and see why I go the long way around in season. A waste of gasoline at best. Just build the bridge already.

Scenic 30A now 25 MPH between Watercolor and Grayton

No matter the intention, the net effect of opening this stretch of 30A to golfcarts is being advanced. Build the bridge already and restore the speed limit to something sane. Maybe 36 is just right for safety too.

Scenic 30A now 25 MPH between Watercolor and Grayton

Catering to a bad idea. If you are genuine in your desire to keep the tourists happy, let's try to make sure they all go home in one piece. Golfcarts are just not meant to be mixed with full size cars (not to mention large delivery trucks). Why would the same people that worry about airbags...

Food for Thought: holiday donations & volunteer needs

You mentioned volunteers. How can I help?

Scenic 30A now 25 MPH between Watercolor and Grayton

It is not designed to help anybody but the golf cart industry. At least be honest.

If I may be so bold.... Avalon Photography has been in Conde Nast Travel, Mary Englebreit Home Companinon Magazine, many regional mags like At Home Tennesee and Cityscapes Arkansas with beach wedding features. Not exactly a product, but a service that is known by many. I estimate that I have...

your small wedding Public access is nice for everyone. Please don't give up on your dream wedding! Found: Beautiful, male birddog found in Santa Rosa Beach

Not sure why being called a pet detective is a bad thing! I was not trying to be snarky, just cute. I have rescued my share, looking at three of them right now. Not to mention the re-homed ones.

Found: Beautiful, male birddog found in Santa Rosa Beach

German SH pointer for sure OK pet detective-- Maybe he was "rescued" by someone before he could enter the system. That is a beautiful dog, and worth big money if he hunts. Just sayin..... Hope he gets back to his home, or finds a good new one.

A gathering to remember Ann Hodnett

Long time local, Ann Hodnett died on December 14 of complications from a breif illness. Annie and I worked together at "Shades" in Seaside back in the 90s. Even before that, you might remember her from Bailey's ( 331/Blue Bar). In recent years, she has been living with husband Mark Hansen and...

    Liquor store open thanksgiving day

May I suggest a Bloody Mary with a little celery salt on the rim? My secret receipe has a tiny dash of BBQ sauce and a big squeeze of lime too. If you must use a pre-mix, Whisky Willies is a good pick. I like it even without the Vodka and it goes well with big holiday flavors.

    Ebro Greyhounds

Let's have Jai Alai Like on the opening credits of Miami Vice! Now that would be cool. I would go to Ebro to see that for sure. What crazy regulations we have, must be a lobbyist somewhere doing his/her job very well.

    Ebro Greyhounds

OK, I see what you are saying. I guess my feeling is one bad apple busted could point a spotlight on many more abuses. Granted, not to this extreme, but even under "normal" conditions what a terrible life (and death) for the dogs! I must admit that I hope that the public will see that the dog...

    Ebro Greyhounds

That is a bit of a stretch, even for a you. I don't boycott the pharmacy because somebody else sells crack on the corner. The card room comment is from my husband, I don't neccessarily agree with that part. Maybe "gaming" is a better use of the facility and a better job for the employees too.

    Ebro Greyhounds

I do hope that the management is truly upset on behalf of the dogs and not just the bad press. Maybe they did not know about this particular incident, I can not say for certain. I still think the industry is wrong in general, but I am sorry for the employees who make their living at the track...

    Ebro Greyhounds

this is marty. the EBRO CARD ROOM is run at the same location, same people making money from the dog racing make money from the card room. this place should be boycotted along with the dog races at ebro. i know some sowalers are regulars there. they should be ashamed to return to the ebro card room.

    Ebro Greyhounds

Something is really fishy here and deserves some REAL investigation. Not just the perp that was arrested, the park as a...

FOUND: Med-Sized Tan Male Chihuahua, Eastern Lake Area

Try the local vets too. If you don't hear something soon, have him checked for a chip. I live in the area and I will sure ask around. "Lost Dog" posters have helped me re-home pets in the past.

    Dog seizures

Go for the meds In this case, the phenobarb is really the best answer. Very little is known about the cause of this pretty common ailment.
