What was the name of that .... ?

Ah, thanks for the correction, Franny, you beat me to it! She remembered last night that Barbarosa was the name of their development company, La Pergola WAS the restaurant.

My sources suggest the restaurant was Barbarosa... Run by Dr Davie's son, Gabe.

Sailboat off west side of 331 bridge

Don't know if anyone here happens to know who owns the sailboat moored on the west side of the bridge, but it has slipped its moorings and the chop on the bay is causing it to knock against the rocks. Going to cause some damage if it's not dealt with soon...

    Yellow Fly Bites

My family has found that it's just as effective to get the cheap, black plastic garden pots and spray the Tanglefoot (adherent) onto that and hang. Same effect, a lot less work! They need to be hanging, though, because the movement attracts them. Good luck!

    Girl scout cookies

A friend's daughter is selling them-- they've already done the pre-orders so now its just whatever she has in stock, but she said she's got a lot left... She is at work right now but said that she would contact me on her lunch break. PM me with your information and what you're looking for and...

Accident in Seagrove across from Lakewood

Two cars, doesn't look too bad, but it's a bad location to have traffic backing up in three directions... Sheriff and fire department on the scene clearing it, may want to steer clear of that area for a little while until they get it under wraps...

    Found Lab in Eastern Lake/Seagrove

Hmmm... Pretty sure my 'rents have his name, address and phone number stamped on their boy's collar, but just to be sure... He's not big, black and overly lovable wearing a jaunty green bandana from the groomer's is he?

Man Drowns in Santa Rosa Beach

Was at Publix this afternoon and was talking to one of the employees about the weather. Had a young man behind me speak up and ask, "What's the deal with the two red flags? Does that mean it's illegal to go in the water? It's got an X over the swimmer, but the water doesn't look so...

    Tipping

Thanks, RTR! I don't know about Cowgirl Kitchen but, as I work at the Market, I don't mind addressing that question. Lunchtime service IS a little different, in that you don't have just ONE server but a whole team of servers who are working very hard to give you the best possible experience...

For Sale The Pointe [formerly Inn at the Gulf at Inlet Beach]

Ha! I completely agree, Treefrog! It's an old tradition for my brothers and I, whenever my elder brother is in town we wake up early and drive to DH to pick up donuts before anybody else is up... it's a special treat since it's so far away--I can't have it all the time... Inlet Beach is waaay...

Job Wanted Looking for Staffing Company

If you are looking to go with a staffing agency, I'd look at Landrum. I know that they have pretty extensive connections in the area, and I know several people who have had luck with great placement through them. Good luck, and welcome to SoWal!

    Gulf Water Quality Results

Heartbren, when they give the boil notices it is because there is a current break in a line, they are aware of it, and working to fix it. They WANT to make people aware by giving those notices--I suspect otherwise they would be susceptible to getting sued. I think you can rest easy that they...

    Accident at 98 and 395

I think that drivers turning left onto 98 from 395 are often in such a hurry to get through before the light turns red that they tailgate the car in front of them into the intersection, rather than waiting to make sure there are no cars coming straight across from Pt. Washington. I don't think...

    Accident at 98 and 395

I'm so glad that he's gonna be okay! It was pretty scary to watch... I had pulled into the turn lane and was right at the curve into 395 when it happened and, the way the top of the SUV crunched down, I was so afraid it was going to be much worse than that. Sending lots of happy, healing...

Shout out to the TESLA kids...

Just wanted to give a little love to the group I'm pretty sure are from the TESLA Academy... what a great group of kids! I see them out every afternoon on group jogs (?) and they are so courteous! When I ride through on my bike, they fall into single file immediately and call ahead to their...

    Whiskey bravo closing?

Yes, LV2, and there was also a time when there were plenty of scrub oaks, JUST like nature intended. It is because of the lack of respect and understanding of the nature of an area that problems are caused. Skinsharks is correct, those cinderblock houses were built for a reason, by people who...

    Question about the bike/walking trail

Here's what I don't get: why all the hostility and snark? I recently (unintentionally) got into this argument on FaceBook when a "serious" biker was offended by a comment that another of my friends had made. I don't have an actual problem with the cyclists themselves--they've got every...

Sowal Visitors, how did you learn about the beach flag system?

BR, unfortunately, that is exactly the case for many of our guests... I worked in hospitality on 30A for 10+ years (much longer, and still currently if you count the restaurant, but I'm talking about actually being in a position to check new arrivals in). It used to frustrate me terribly...

    Eastern Lake Access - Yikes!

I haven't said a word about wishing the houses weren't there--they are and that's that. I was referring to people choosing when and where to open the lake, and trying to manipulate its course. I understand your concerns, because you've obviously had a guest leave unhappy. My take on it...

    Eastern Lake Access - Yikes!

Agreed, Jim. Would much prefer that people stop "re-routing" Mother Nature and let the lakes take care of themselves (as they somehow managed to do quite nicely long before people came along to muck it all up). I've been down to the outfall fairly frequently recently, and fail to see how it...

    Hamburgers vs Cheeseburgers

Don't know where you've been dining, or what tickets you've been seeing, but I know that where I work at the Seagrove Village MarketCafe, the cook's ticket DOES say hamburger OR cheeseburger, and also specifies how it is to be cooked (medium, well done, etc) and, if there is to be cheese, which...

    Where to launch jet ski?

Whoops, my mistake. I looked, and it's within 750 feet... Also, please remember that they are completely prohibited in ALL of the Coastal Dune Lakes, idle speed or not.
  28. kitlit

    Where to launch jet ski?

IIRC, it's idle only within 800 feet of any shoreline, and they are not permitted to launch off the beach at any time, but do a search and double check, I may be wrong. Best idea would be Destin or Panama City.

    Dollar General coming to SRB?

I tend to agree with HippieChick--the phrase "lower class" hit my sensitivity sensor as well. How about we amend that to "lower income". Some of the "classiest" people I know have lower income than many. Might come off as nit-picky to some, but I believe that words have power. You should...

    Bike on path or 30a?

Wasn't me! I promise! I generally have no issues with the road bikers, so long as they are being courteous and not riding two or three astride (which, yes, I've seen many times...) I have much, MUCH bigger issues with the morons who decide to start walking across 30A (nowhere NEAR a...

We made the Tax Turkey List

I don't believe it's an issue of learning how to ride a bike. Our area is a tourist community (not that the locals don't bike, too--we do!) and that particular stretch is heavily used, particularly by families staying in Watercolor, Seaside and Grayton. Living in Seagrove, it often makes me...

We made the Tax Turkey List

Absolutely agree! I cross that bridge daily, and it scares the bejesus outta me because I am constantly seeing families with small children wobbling across while the cars are whipping around them... It's dangerous enough for adult riders who have good control, but because it is a path commonly...
