Some potentially good news from the BCC meeting this morning. First, the special magistrate issue was postponed until after the comp plan changes and corrections are in place. We still have to monitor the situation but hopefully this is going to go away over time. Second, the commission gave permission to start the process of buying a piece of property for a park on Lake Jackson. The lake is vital recreation resource for North Walton and a park on the Florida side would be a huge benefit. Finally, the go-ahead was given to buy the "beach" on the North side of the bridge on US 331. The county is still trying to buy the rest of the parcel so the opportunity still exists to build a quality park and boat launch on the North side of the Bay. The negatives from the meeting were that apparently the TDC has management issues and is not responding to public records request in a timely manner. That will require monitoring by citizens.
