Pat Carlyle to address ECMS on “Cultivating Kindness”

Pat Carlyle will speak at the April 5 meeting of the Emerald Coast Meditation Society. Her topic will be “Cultivating Kindness.”

The ECMS will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Christ the King, at 480 N. Co. Hwy. 393, one-half mile north of Hwy. 98. The meeting is free and open to the public and will include 20-30 minutes of meditation.

During her talk, Pat will explore Loving Kindness as a concept and a practice. Ultimately, how we experience life has as much to do with the frame through which we see our experience as it does the events we experience. It matters not only that we pay attention, but also HOW we pay attention. Attention sometimes can have a cold or harsh quality.

Loving Kindness starts with our intention to cultivate an open and friendly stance toward ourselves and others. Pat will introduce Loving Kindness for self and others, and some techniques for working with challenging emotions. We will also practice meditation together as a group for 20-30 minutes.

Pat Carlyle is a Mindfulness Meditation teacher in Santa Rosa Beach. She began her meditation practice over 40 years ago and is dedicated to offering the teachings of spiritual practices that awaken our natural wisdom and compassion. She holds her M.Ed in Psychoeducational Processes and Organizational Development. Pat taught executive education and strategic planning in Fortune 500 companies prior to her move to the beach in 2002. She now has a successful real estate practice and is an avid outdoorswoman.

The ECMS is an ecumenical group open free to anyone. It meets on the first and third Thursdays of the month, September through June. The evening will end around 8 p.m. Anyone who would like meditation instruction should come at 6:15 p.m. Questions? Contact Tracey Tapp, tltapp@cox.net.
