Beginning with “folk art” style works, Justin soon moved to a much more textured impressionistic style of work. He credits a viewing of Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” as the epiphany that sent him searching for a medium and a technique that would allow him to achieve the deeply textured work he crafts today.

Justin’s experience with art has come full circle to his serene Blue Mountain Beach gallery where he still lives and works and creates things that make him happy. This includes contemporary works as well as commissioned pieces for collectors using the sculpting-with-paint technique that he is so well known for. His work is now widely collected and graces venues throughout the United States.

Justin’s work is displayed in many places along the Emerald Coast including the Sacred Heart Hospital, WaterColor Inn, Great Southern Cafe and the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport in Panama City Beach.

South Walton artist Justin Gaffrey will be unveiling his new contemporary body of work, “Absurd Form” on Thursday, November 9 from 5pm til 8pm. The art opening will take place at the Justin Gaffrey Gallery located along Scenic Highway 30A in Blue Mountain Beach. The exhibition, small bites and adult beverages are complimentary and open to the public.

This body of work reflects Justin’s thoughts on human behavior and conditioning. “I feel free while producing these pieces,” explains Gaffrey. “I know this body of work is different from my original paintings, but these pieces show the depth of my thoughts and how I view human nature. I am eager to share them with my friends and collectors.”

Along with the art opening, the Justin Gaffrey Gallery will be making efforts to raise funds for the Food For Thought Organization. The Food For Thought Organization is a nonprofit that provides backpacks filled with healthy, easy to prepare food for students who receive free or reduced school meals. There will be a silent auction of one of Justin’s art pieces. There will also be Justin Gaffrey art posters for sale in which proceeds benefit Food For Thought. The Justin Gaffrey Gallery encourages for all who attend the art opening to check into the event on Facebook and take photos through the Facebook Event Page. For everyone who checks into the Absurd Form Art Opening, Justin Gaffrey will donate a dollar to the Food For Thought Organization.

“Giving to Food For Thought brings me joy,” says Gaffrey. “The interaction I have experienced with donors, volunteers, and the kids they are helping has left such a valuable impression on my life. It is an honor any time I can give back to this organization.”
