KREWE, a New Orleans-based independent eyewear company, is taking to the road in 2017 with its newly-crafted Tiny House, making an official Alys Beach debut on June 23, 2017, as part of a month-long residency at The Alys Shoppe in Alys Beach, Florida.

With a wide selection of colorful, beach-ready frames, KREWE will celebrate this unique community partnership with an intimate cocktail reception on June 23, open to local Alys Beach homeowners and the general public.

The Tiny House, a small showroom of 154.8 square feet, was designed as an exact replica of the iconic shotgun home— a symbol of New Orleans’ architecture and Afro-Caribbean lineage. While its outer design harkens to the city of New Orleans itself, its interior feels entirely KREWE— a mini-store that sells premium, handcrafted eyewear with the same welcoming hospitality of the brand’s standalone storefronts in New Orleans and Savannah, Georgia.

“Our goal at KREWE is to take the simple things we love, and do them better. The Tiny House movement encourages the idea of living simply and through experiences that enrich our quality of life. KREWE has interpreted this into a non-traditional mobile retail experience, and we’re excited to reach our customers in a new way, wherever they may be.” — Founder and Creative Director, Stirling Barrett

This idea of a unique way to shop eyewear isn’t entirely new to KREWE; in August of 2013, KREWE debuted the custom-built KREWE Cart. Featuring a fully-functioning bicycle attached to a lightbox, Stirling and the Cart were quickly seen as a staple at New Orleans festivals. Later, the brand opened a glass-cube— known as the Sunroom— that acted as part-showroom and by-appointment-only store.

Four years later, KREWE is eager to share their retail evolution with customers while working closely with the community- centric neighborhood of Alys Beach. The KREWE Tiny House will be open for business at 30 Mark Twain Lane, Alys Beach, FL 32461 through July 22. Store hours are Monday-Saturday 10AM-7PM and Sunday 12PM-5PM. ABOUT KREWE
KREWE was founded in 2013 by Stirling Barrett, a New Orleans native and creative entrepreneur. His vision of the city as a thriving cultural hub was his inspiration for launching KREWE, along with a passion to spread the culture of New Orleans and its celebration of individual styles through modern, iconic frames. Every pair of KREWE eyewear is designed by Barrett in our New Orleans design studio, with each frame hand-carved out of extremely lightweight heat-sensitive acetate for a customized fit that lasts. Every frame is named after or inspired by notable New Orleans sites or cultural references, evoking the spirit and essence of the city where it was founded. Finding fans among the likes of Beyoncé, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Selena Gomez, KREWE is sold at a number of premier retailers globally, as well as their flagship in New Orleans’ historic French Quarter and their recently-opened Savannah storefront.

ABOUT ALYS BEACH
Offering an unrivaled sense of escape, Alys Beach is an emerging community nestled along Northwest Florida’s Scenic Highway 30A. Drawing inspiration from Bermuda and Antigua, Guatemala, Alys Beach’s stark white walls and private courtyard homes create a harmonious, urban environment characterized by calmness and simplicity. When complete, a short walk through town will take one from the gorgeous white sand along the Gulf coast, through a thriving town center filled with a variety of shops and restaurants, along pathways lined with neighborhood parks, pools, and event spaces, culminating on a 20-acre nature preserve to the north with trails and boardwalks winding through cypress wetlands.
