La Vie Est Belle is hosting a reception during Seaside First Friday Art Walk on Friday, May 4th from 5-8pm, featuring the late Joe Elmore's artwork.
Gone but never forgotten, artist Joe Elmore was a big fella. Some would describe him as being “larger than life.” Although he excelled in almost every art medium, his huge wood sculptures reflect his skills with the chainsaw. Witness the huge cypress Indian head and California redwood buffalo sculptures that grace the entrance to his old gallery, Elmore's Landing. The huge piece of redwood used for his big buffalo sculpture washed out of a California state park.
Born in Hanford, CA, Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a great cook, fabulous artist, and owned his own gallery in Santa Rosa Beach. Joe was loved by many and his artwork adorns many homes across the country.
First Friday ArtWalk in Seaside
Make plans to spend your first Friday of each month strolling Central Square and visiting Seaside Merchants from 5-7pm. Participating merchants will host special in-store exhibits and events showcasing their jewelry, art, fashion, music, wine and food. It's a great way to start the weekend at the beach.
