Miramar Beach, Fla. (May 2, 2018) — Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) launches the second annual Northwest Florida Theatre Festival, May 16-28, 2018.

When ECTC producing artistic director Nathanael Fisher concepted the Northwest Florida Theatre Festival last year, it was to provide a “stage” - literally and figuratively - for local artists in the community. The Festival will be produced in concert with the Cultural Arts Alliance’s Art Week South Walton.

“I believe that art breeds art. Our mission is to unify the theater and performing arts groups of Northwest Florida and showcase the talent, work, and productions of numerous organizations and people,” said Fisher.

The unjuried theater festival will feature 14 unique pieces of theater including one act plays, cabaret, magic, dance, comedy and more. Producing groups come from Pensacola to Panama City. Most pieces will be staged twice for a total of 23 performances.

The Northwest Florida Theatre Festival is open to the public and will be held at ECTC’s performance space located at 560 Grand Boulevard, Upstairs, in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin in Miramar Beach, Florida.

The Festival schedule follows:

Winston Churchill: Through the Storm

House of Monkeys | WINSTON CHURCHILL: THROUGH THE STORM: Prime Minister Winston Churchill reminisces about his life. Moving back and forth from past to present, Churchill recalls his worst and finest hours. Featuring Bruce Collier.

winston-website-photo.jpeg

Bruce is currently working on his one man show WINSTON CHURCHILL: THROUGH THE STORM. WINSTON CHURCHILL: THROUGH THE STORM takes place late in the evening of July 23, 1945. The setting is Potsdam, Germany, site of a summit conference of the victorious Allies following the defeat of Nazi Germany. British Prime Minister Winston Churchill has just hosted a banquet for U.S. President Harry Truman and Soviet Generalissimo Josef Stalin. He is about to return to England to learn the results of a parliamentary election which will determine whether or not he will return to the conference as Britain’s war leader and help plan both the defeat of Japan and the balance of power in the post-war world. Over brandy and cigars he reminisces about his personal and public life, the war, and the possible future. Moving back and forth from past to present, between his chair and a podium representing his place in the House of Commons, Churchill recalls his worst and finest hours.

WINSTON CHURCHILL:THROUGH THE STORM premiering at Emerald Coast Theatre Company's 2018 Theater Festival Friday, May 18 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 19 at 3 p.m.
