The Cultural Arts Association invites artists of all skill levels to attend a plein air painting workshop featuring Ft. Walton Beach artist, Carol Ann Cain, on Saturday, April 26 from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Plein air painting is done on location in front of the subject and mostly completed while experiencing the landscape. The finished product is a representation of the artist?s perception and response to the conditions of the landscape. The setting of Cain?s workshop at the former Bayou Arts and Antiques building will offer views of gardens, marshes and the Bay, all ideal subjects for plein air painting.
Cain will provide a lecture and demonstration that will include specific guidelines and suggestions for starting a plein air painting. Students will then select their subject and begin painting. The day-long class will allow ample time for critiques.
Cain, who was the facilitator for the Emerald Coast Plein Air Painters from 2004 through 2007, received ?Best of Show? at the 2008 Beaux Arts Exhibit and the Okaloosa Regional Airport Exhibit in 2007. Her paintings have been featured in ?American Art Collector? of Alcove Books and ?Art Galleries and Artists of the South.? She is represented in several galleries, including the Beverly McNeil Gallery in Destin. Cain recently completed commissions to decorate the lobby of One Water Place in Destin and the Naples Ritz in South Florida. Learn more about Cain by visiting www.carolanncain.com.
Cain?s plein air painting workshop will take place in the former Bayou Arts and Antiques building on County Road 393 North. Students should bring a brown bag lunch.
