Walton County TDC and Topsail Hill Preserve Announce No Charge Summer Parking Agreement for Summer 2016

Walton County, Topsail Hill Preserve State Park and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Division of Recreation and Parks are once again teaming up to provide parking at no charge for summer beachgoers between May 27, 2016 to Sept. 5, 2016.

Starting on May 27, 2016, regular day-use admission fees will be waived for public entrance to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park through a reimbursement program administered by Visit South Walton (VSW). The Walton County tourism agency has been directed by the Board of County Commissioners to reimburse the state park up to $25,000 for entrance fees through Sept. 5, 2016 for both visitors and residents.

VSW and the County Commissioners are dedicated to promoting safe and continuous traffic flow along Highway 30A. The successful numbers shown throughout the inaugural agreement in 2015 encouraged the repeat of the program along the scenic corridor.

The arrangement will attract visitors and residents for outdoor recreation opportunities, support the Walton County Tourist Development Plan, and increase beach access parking availability along Highway 30A.

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park’s tram service will continue to operate service each day from 9:00 a.m. until sunset at least twice per hour to provide transportation to the Park’s beach access from their public parking lot.

It's a beautiful State Park to spend your day hiking, biking, exploring and beaching.

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park offers a wide variety of natural resources including 3.2 miles of secluded, white sand beaches with majestic dunes over 25 feet tall. Three rare coastal dune lakes provide excellent freshwater fishing. Although boats are not allowed, fishing from the shoreline yields bass, bream, panfish, and catfish. Lakes, pristine beaches, old-growth long leaf pines, sand pine scrub, and a variety of wetlands offer a bird-watching and hiking paradise. Visitors may bike, walk, or enjoy a quick ride to the beach on our timely tram service to swim, fish, sunbathe, or beachcomb. Gregory E. Moore RV resort features a (non-heated) swimming pool and shuffleboard courts. Furnished bungalows are available for weekly stays. A camp store offers a variety of camping items, as well as snacks and drinks.

Florida State Parks are treasures waiting for your discovery!

Two State Parks named "Perfect for South Walton"

No Free Admission Fees here at these two.

Grayton just had lots of Hollywood Type music videos being filmed there...no mention of that of if any $$$ was obtain for the right to do so.

If these parks are so important to SoWal, how about the money that TDC gets for parking at Topsail Preserve go right back into Walton County Parks and NOT the State Fund (where it currently goes)... Just a thought...
