World Paddle For The Planet events start this week with many exciting outdoor events taking place in Carillon Beach Resort and Camp Helen State Park, from Oct. 10-13. Paddlers, families and nature lovers will join World Paddlers at Carillon Beach the evening of Friday, Oct. 11, for a film screening of Stand, a SUP adventure through the Great Bear Rainforest. The film will be shown outdoors on the lawn at Carillon Beach at 7:30pm. Viewers will need to bring lawn chairs and blankets. A donation of at least $5 per person is requested.

Stand
is a documentary about surfing, stand up paddleboarding and the proposed Enbridge pipeline and oil tanker route on the pristine coastline of Northern British Columbia. Taking place in Haida Gwaii, Great Bear Rainforest, Bella Bella and Vancouver Island, Stand takes the viewers on a journey through the coast showcasing the rich First Nations culture and the incredible terrestrial and oceanic environments of the coast.

Stand
has three main characters: Norm Hann, who paddles 350km along the east coast of Haida Gwaii visiting the Haida Watchman sites along the way; Raph Bruhwiler, who lives the quinessential west coast life in Tofino BC, with surf at his back door and an ocean that feeds the family; and the students from Bella Bella Highschool woodworking class, who's journey is followed as they build standup paddleboards in class.
