Halloween Happenings in South Walton

Halloween is a blast in South Walton. There are so many fun things to do your head will spin. From costume parties for people and their pups, to bar crawls, to witches on bikes, you're sure to find a ghastly good time for all the family to enjoy.

Here's a list we've put together to help you celebrate Halloween at the beach.

-Friday, October 26-

Fall Festival at Topsail Hill State Park
The Department of Environmental Protection’s Topsail Hill Preserve State Park will be having their 6th Annual Haunted Hay Ride and Fantasyland on Oct 26 & 27, 2012. There will be a fully-frightening trail for adults and children over 12 for $5 a person. Young children will be able to go through the trick or treat trail, a “scare free” walking loop with treats for $1. Fun games with prizes and face painting for a $1. Drinks and food will be available for donations with all of the proceeds going to The Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, Inc. Call (850) 267-8330 for more information.

3rd Annual Halloweener Derby at Seaside
Make your plans now to be in Seaside for the hilarious races featuring some of the areas top dogs. Halloweener Derby Day at Seaside is an annual FUNdraising event for 30A Radio and The Alaqua Animal Refuge. Check-in & registration begins at 9:30am.  Races begin at 10am. Pompano Joe's Beach Spooktacular
Pompano Joe's Beach comes alive for a Spooktacular Halloween event to benefit Emerald Coast Surfrider Foundation. Come as you are or dress in your favorite Halloween costume! Enjoy the beach, music, games, giveaways, sandcastles, candy, paddle boarding & halloween fun. Kids eat free. Join Surfrider for an end of evening beach clean up. 10am-2pm.

Harvest Market & Monstrous Halloween Celebration at Rosemary Beach
Harvest Market at North Barrett Square. Enjoy the crisp, autumn air while perusing artist booths filled with paintings, pottery, jewelry and other hand-crafted items. 10am-6pm. Trick or Treating & Kids' Halloween Bash. Bring the little ghosts and goblins for trick-or-treating through town center businesses and the Harvest Market artist's booths!  We'll also have a pumpkin carving contest with prizes, a moonwalk, hayrides, airbrush tattoos, games, music and more!  FREE and everyone is invited! Noche de los Muertos at Caliza Pool in Alys Beach
Have a thrilling time at Alys Beach's Noche de los Muertos adult costume party and dance. DJ G-Funk will headline the event known for amazing costumes and awesome music, featuring a $1000 cash prize for Best Costume. Bars accepting cash and credit will be available and costumes are required. The party is for guests ages 21 and older. Party tickets can be purchased online at or at Fonville Press, or at the door. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Children's Volunteer Health Network. E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center Presents Spooky Spiders
Just in time for Halloween! Join the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center and learn about the variety of spiders in Northwest Florida. Overcome your fear of spiders by learning the environmental benefits of spiders! Arachnid fans of all ages will love this program! Biophilia Center is located at 4956 State Hwy 20 East in Freeport, 32439.

Come join the party on Sunday Funday and wear your costumes for the Halloween Bar Crawl. Here's the musical line-up:

Halloween Carnival at Alys Beach Benefiting Missions of Point Washington United Methodist Church
Halloween Carnival at Alys Beach - Kelly Green from 2:00pm to 5:00pm
A Benefit for the Missions of Point Washington United Methodist Church
Lots of fun and games for the whole family, including face painting, bounce house, costume contest, and a pumpkin patch with photos, to name a just a few of the day's festivities!!

-Wednesday, October 31-

Witches of South Walton Bike Ride
Witches of South Walton gather early on Halloween morning for the annual bike ride along Scenic 30A, from Miss Lucille's at Gulf Place to Butler Elementary and back.  Witches then gather at a local breakfast spot for food and fun! Entry fees and raffles to benefit Children's Volunteer Health Network (CVHN).  Email us,  carol@graytonbeach.com to get on the list for more details.

Seaside Trick or Treat
It is time for ghosts, goblins, and princesses to go door-to-door collecting candy from the Seaside merchants to feed their sugary appetites. Hop on the haunted hayride, hear spooky stories with the Seaside Repertory Theatre, and do the monster mash with terrifying tunes from 30A Radio, your community radio station.

Halloween Trick or Treat Event at Silver Sands Premium Outlets®
Join in the Halloween fun at Silver Sands Premium Outlets® from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.  Children, accompanied by an adult, are invited to dress up in their ghoulish costumes for a spooktacular trick-or-treating event from store-to-store on Halloween. Trick or Treat Street at The Village of Baytowne Wharf
From 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Friends, fireworks, and frights! Come experience this family friendly Halloween event. Trick or treat through the Village streets and visit merchants as they provide you with some of your favorite Halloween treats from 6:00pm-8:00pm. 
Calling all ghouls and goblins to Hartell's Village Diner for a Kid's Costume Contest! Registration and judging starts at 6:00pm. 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners will be announced on the Events Plaza stage at 8:00pm! 
The DJ will be playing frightening good tunes on the Events Plaza stage, and to end the evening, spooky fireworks will light up the sky at 8:00pm!

Murder Mystery Dinner at Grayt Coffee House – “Murder at the Juice Joint”
A night of mystery and intrigue in the wild and romantic era of the roaring 20's! With the passing of prohibition and organized crime on the rise, The Juice Joint, a swanky speakeasy run by Rosie Marie, has been nothing but jumping. To celebrate its success, Rosie is planning a party to remember at the exclusive nightspot… and you are invited!
Prior to the event, everyone will be emailed their parts and will come to the party in character.
RSVP no later than Sunday - Oct 28th to secure your spot
$25 per person includes dinner & murder, BYOB

Celebrate Halloween at the Red Bar
Grayton Beach's famous Red Bar celebrates Halloween with a costume contest featuring cash prizes, including $300 for first place, $200 for second place, and $50 gift certificates for third, fourth, and fifth place winners. DJ Vlad will be spinning great tunes for the evening's festivities.
