Hurricane Party Returns to Bud & Alley's Sep 25

August 1, 2015 by SoWal Staff

It's always a great party and it's for a great cause - raising funds every year for one of our favorite local organizations - Children's Volunteer Health Network (CVHN). They see to it that all children in our area receive needed medical and dental care. We're thrilled Bud & Alley’s will be hosting the 11th Annual Hurricane Party again this year. The Hurricane Party will take place on Friday, Sept. 25 from 6:30-10:00 p.m. with all proceeds benefiting CVHN.

Entertainment will be provided by Motown favorites Bobby Moore & The Rhythm Aces. Along with the amazing views, food, beverages, dancing and fun that Bud and Alley’s is famous for, the Hurricane Party will also feature a live and silent auction.

Tickets are available online now!

“The Hurricane Party goes back to the very beginning of CVHN”, says CVHN Executive Director, Zach Billingsley.

When the Founding Members of CVHN were planning the very first fundraiser for the organization back in 2004, hurricane evacuations threatened the success of the event. The event organizers personally called the invitation list asking people to come back into town for the Hurricane Party. The community showed up in a big way raising more than $40,000 and the name stuck.

Now in its 11th year, the Hurricane Party benefiting CVHN has become a must-attend event for locals and visitors of the Emerald Coast.

“We are so pleased to be hosting the Hurricane Party benefiting CVHN again this year at Bud & Alley's,” says Dave & Carol Rauschkolb, owners of Bud & Alley’s. “We are drawn to this cause because the heart of this organization is about enriching children's lives. Providing free, essential health and dental services to uninsured and underinsured children lessens suffering and builds stronger, more productive and happy children in our area. Together we can make a tremendous and meaningful difference for these children. Please join us for this important event.”

The evening festivities will build up to a live auction where exclusive trips, private dinners with local chefs and more create a bidding frenzy each year. All proceeds from the auction go to CVHN, which spends 95 cents of every dollar on its programs that help kids in Walton and Okaloosa Counties. Ticket proceeds from the event will be used for on-going operating funds which sustain the CVHN mission for their three major programs: a 34’ Mobile Dental Clinic that visits local elementary schools and other local charities, a network of volunteer providers and the CVHN Dental Clinic located in Santa Rosa Beach. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with heavy creole hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

Tickets are limited and will be $75 in advance and $100 day of the party. Guests will be able to purchase tickets online or by phone beginning July 28.

Children's Volunteer Health Network, Inc. is a faith-based 501(c)(3) organization, established in 2005 in response to Walton and Okaloosa County's large population of low income families who are unable to access high quality health services due to the unavailability (or inadequacy) of insurance.

The mission of CVHN is to improve the health and well-being of children in need. CVHN strives towards this mission by utilizing a network of over 95 local volunteer physicians, dentists and other healthcare providers. CVHN also operates the 'Just for Grins' Mobile Dental Clinic that visits local elementary schools and other non-profits, and the CVHN Dental Clinic in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. All services are free to kids enrolled in school in Walton and Okaloosa Counties who are on the free or reduced lunch programs.

CVHN has facilitated more than 60,000 free procedures since inception. More than 7,500 children have been helped resulting in over $4.5 million in free health services provided to our community. CVHN spends 95 cents of every dollar on its programs. The vision of CVHN is for all God’s children to be healthy, happy and see their futures as limitless. Until that day there is more work to be done. For more information, call 850.622.3200 or visit cvhnkids.org.
