Ice Skating at Baytowne Wharf is a SoWal Holiday Tradition

The Village of Baytowne Wharf today officially celebrates the opening of its outdoor ice rink in Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. “Baytowne on Ice” is Northwest Florida’s only outdoor skating rink.

Located in the Events Plaza in The Village of Baytowne Wharf, the rink brings family fun for all ages. The full size ice skating rink offers plenty of room for the amateur skater to learn and the triple axel fanatics to enjoy. Open to the public, the ice rink is available now through January 31. “This year we are focusing on fun for people and families of all ages,” said Brendan Doolan, Ice Rink Manager.   “We are also offering special packages, events and promotions that will further enhance this wonderful Emerald Coast tradition.”

The Village of Baytowne Wharf will be featuring a special Military and Local appreciation day on Nov. 8. Adventure Zone will offer zipline rides and ice skating free to visitors who provide a valid military or local ID.

For the entire month of November guests can bring in two non-perishable items to the rink and receive a free skate rental. These items will be going to Harvest House in Destin which gives out over 500 bags of food to hungry families and homeless a month. In December guests can bring in a new toy in exchange for a buy one skate session receive one free offer. Toys will be donated to the Marine Corps annual Toys for Tots.

In the area of packages, Baytowne on Ice for the first time is teaming up with Baytowne Adventure Zone and Blast Arcade on fun and innovative discount packages that include ice skating, Ziplining and/or the arcade and laser maze.

“For larger group events, Baytowne on Ice is a great place to have private parties or school events to celebrate the holiday spirit that The Village of Baytowne celebrates,” added Doolan.

For just $10 guests can skate for an hour and a half. Skates are available for rent for $2. The rink will be open during the week from 3-9 p.m., on Fridays from 3-10 p.m., on Saturdays from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. and on Sundays from 12-6 p.m. The first hour of each day is reserved for “kids skate” for youths 12 and under. Season passes are available for Sandestin residents and non-residents.
