Dr. Paul Chomiak, an experienced thoracic oncology surgeon, has joined Sacred Heart Medical Oncology Group with offices at the Sacred Heart Cancer Center in Pensacola.
Dr. Chomiak recently moved to Pensacola from Frederick Memorial Regional Cancer Center in Maryland. He is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago and attended the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. Dr. Chomiak completed a residency in general surgery at Loyola University Medical Center as well as a fellowship in thoracic surgical oncology and thoracic transplant at the University of Wisconsin.
In addition to his expertise in lung cancer surgery, Dr. Chomiak offers a full spectrum of surgical interventions that include video-assisted thoracic surgery, chest wall resection and reconstruction, as well as surgeries that remove abnormal growths that form in the middle of the chest. Dr. Chomiak has experience in electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy, a minimally-invasive procedure to diagnose early-stage lung cancers more effectively.
He also has expertise in robotic surgery which allows complex thoracic surgical procedures to be performed via small punctures between the rib spaces.
Dr. Chomiak and the Cancer Center also have launched a new lung cancer screening program intended to detect the disease in its earliest stages – when chances of a cure are much higher. For more information, call 850-416-LUNG (5864) or go online to http://www.sacred-heart.org/cancercenter.
