Patchouli’s Boutique 20 Year Celebration and Open House October 18

October 16, 2012 by SoWal Staff

Patchouli’s is proud to announce its celebration of 20 years in business on Scenic Highway 30A.  For the past 20 years, Patchouli’s has offered highly sought after products from around the corner to around the world. Patchouli’s began as a dream Linda Boswell had to open a soap shop by the beach. In 1992, Boswell moved from California to make her dream a reality, by opening Patchouli’s in Seaside, Florida. Her vision quickly grew into a neighborhood favorite for bath and body decadence. Visitors and locals were enchanted by the fragrances flowing from the open doors of the boutique shop. From the beginning, customers flocked to the custom scenting bar to create their own signature scent.

While located in Gulf Place in 2006, Boswell’s friend, Lynn Dugas, stepped in to continue Boswell’s vision and take Patchouli’s to the next level. Having designed numerous homes in Rosemary Beach, Dugas knew it was exactly where Patchouli’s needed to be. Dugas went back to the drawing board to create what Patchouli’s is today. In 2007, the boutique moved to Rosemary Beach and opened with brick walls, wood floors, antiques, and a rock crystal chandelier.

Today, a breeze is not needed to beckon shoppers into the fragrant haven. The Patchouli’s team makes it a priority to be a cut above the rest.   “We strive to bring unusual and unique products to uplift people’s spirits and help them enjoy their best selves,” said Dugas. “Our goal is to differentiate ourselves from corporate beauty stores through our selection, service, and atmosphere.”  Their shelves are stocked with high-end fragrances and creams from around the world, as well as locally made luxurious soaps and scrubs.

It is common to hear of Patchouli ‘regulars’ that have been creating memories and their own scents at the boutique since childhood, who now visit Patchouli’s to craft new ones with their own children. While Patchouli’s still carries many of the original favorite scents, they continue to add fresh, new choices. A Jacobean style bar now houses over 70 oils used to created customizable bath and body treats.

Despite adversity through hurricanes, oil spills, and economic instability, Patchouli’s continues to thrive on 30A thanks to their customers who have made the boutique flourish.   “I have a deep appreciation for the loyalty and support of customers, both local and nationwide, that have allowed this small business to grow,” said Dugas.

Patchouli’s takes a team, both in-store and behind the scenes, to keep the very detailed boutique running smoothly. The family of Patchouli’s girls holds a passion for sharing their knowledge of the products they love.  “Many of the Patchouli’s ladies have been with us through the years,” said Dugas. “It’s the loyal clientele, as well as the devoted group of ladies that work for us, that create the backbone of this successful venture. Each one brings a special talent that adds to the unique personality of Patchouli’s.”

Patchouli’s is only a phone call away to customize your fabulous bath and body product specifications that can be delivered to doorstops around the world. The team strives to allow customers, near or far, to experience the Patchouli’s lifestyle. Patchouli’s takes pride in their gifting options, which are available for all products and packages of any size. The attention to detail in each and every gift box is second to none and brings back the true essence of the original present.  With a demand for Patchouli’s beyond Rosemary Beach, the team is currently positioning themselves for expansion in the near future to service Destin and the west-end of 30A.

To commemorate 20 years on 30A and to thank their customers for embracing the Patchouli’s lifestyle, the boutique will host an open house, on Thursday, October 18th.  The celebration will feature fire-hooping performances by Hoola for Happiness, a charity whose mission is to spread the joy of hooping and the love of God throughout the world. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Hoola for Happiness and Send Some Love, a non-profit group that has partnered with several organizations to provide gift packages to girls rescued from human trafficking from all around the world.  Pet adoptions will also be available by Alaqua Animal Refuge.
