The Bay Restaurant at the foot of the 331 bridge is the host site for this year's YOLO Relay Series - three monthly races beginning Thursday, June 19 at 4:30 p.m. The Bay, operated by Chef Jim Shirley of Great Southern Cafe & The Meltdown on 30A in Seaside, has quickly gained a loyal following with its authentic Southern-inspired food, open-air bar and bayfront location on the Choctawhatchee Bay. Enjoy family-friendly dining inside or outside by the dock.

Thursday, June 19 race lineup
4:30PM - Special Olympics Florida athletes relay [new division for 2014]
5:30PM - Women's relay
6:00PM - Men's relay

A 55-foot-long indoor bar provides a place to sit and enjoy sushi, 12-draft beer system, excellent wine selections, and special cocktails taking mixology to another level. Table and bar seating provided indoors and out on the deck.

The Bay menu includes signature large plates with seafood and steak selections. The Faux Ya Ya is a take on shrimp and grits prepared with grilled polenta cakes, pancetta and prosciutto, and crowned with spiced shrimp. Diners will love these as well as sushi, salads, small plates, burgers, and sides. The lobster sandwich is the talk of the town. See the full menu by visiting The Bay on Facebook.

The Bay is the place to go for live music on the deck from Thursday through Sunday every week! Arrive by car, kayak, or boat, kick back, and enjoy the scene.  Serving lunch and dinner seven days per week.

The YOLO race series features relay-style competition between male, female and co-ed teams of three in a recreational division. The fun-filled series includes racers of all skill levels and ages from junior to seniors vying for the coveted champion title. Paddlers compete on YOLO 12’ recreation boards provided for complimentary use to racers by YOLO Board during each event.

This year’s event will include giveaways and kids activities, as well as a new division to the race program dedicated to Special Olympics Florida SUP athletes from Okaloosa and Walton Counties. A strengthened supporter of Special Olympics since 2012, YOLO Board’s mission is to make SUP accessible and easy for area athletes.
Additional scheduled races (weather permitting) are set for July 17th and August 7th (the rain date for the May 29th race cancellation).

YOLO Board is currently welcoming race teams for this year’s series. For racers, the one-time race entry fee is $180 per three-person relay team ($60 per person). Complimentary 2014 signature event t-shirts will be provided for each participating team at the debut race on May 29th.
