Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast Announces $30 Million Expansion

Leaders of Sacred Heart Health System announced plans yesterday to launch a $30 million expansion of facilities and services at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. The expansion will increase the capacity of the Emerald Coast hospital for inpatient services, maternity services, emergency services and pediatric services.

Visit Coastal Skin Surgery and Dermatology in Miramar Beach for free skin cancer screenings on Melanoma Monday, May 5 from 1-4pm. 

As a way to raise awareness of melanoma and other types of skin cancer and to encourage early detection through self-exams, the American Academy of Dermatology designates the first Monday in May as Melanoma Monday.

Resurrecting van Gogh at Seaside Repertory Theatre May 2

Emerald Coast Theatre Company will perform Resurrecting van Gogh at Seaside Meeting Hall Theater on Friday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. Event proceeds will benefit the Arts in Medicine program at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.

Created and performed by Jason Hedden, this show is based on the life, work and writings of the late Andy Martin. Martin was a medical student and oncology patient at Tulane University where he conducted groundbreaking research on sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma (SNUC), the extremely rare form of cancer that eventually took his life.

Arts in Medicine Program at Sacred Heart Hospital Boosts Spirits with Music and Art

When Joyce VerStraete was admitted to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast recently, she was pleasantly surprised to see volunteer artist Rita Stuck enter her hospital room wheeling her “art cart”. Joyce quickly had clay in her hands and a smile on her face, chatting about children and grandchildren, completely forgetting she was in the hospital.

Little Black Dress Party Benefiting Local Charities May 17

The White-Wilson Community Foundation sets the stage for the 5th Annual Little Black Dress Party to be held May 17 from 6-11pm at the Emerald Coast Convention Center.
 
The annual Little Black Dress Party was formed in 2010 to raise money for local charities to increase awareness and promote early detection (and to ensure positive outcomes) for those in our community diagnosed with breast cancer.  Since its formation, the event has raised over $122,000 for local organizations.

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast invites you to join the next diabetes self-management class on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 17 and 18, from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. The class will take place in the Resource Center Suite one education building at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.
