Details
Calling all dog lovers! Dog-Harmony has a new building! And, while the building isn’t 100 percent ready, this dog rescue and education organization is set to host an open house on May 9 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Complete with live music by Matt Lyons Art, drinks by Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar and Grayton Beer Company and light bites, this event will educate community members about what Dog-Harmony is and how they and their businesses can help prepare the new space for the nonprofit’s many humane education events and make it a livable space for the dogs.
“We’re thrilled about the new space, but we have a long way to go before it’s really ready for the dogs and larger events,” said Nancy Bown, founder of Dog-Harmony. “We need some major community involvement to get this location to where it needs to be. We need everything from modular fencing to cabinets and kennel mats, so there are plenty of options for businesses to support this project.”

Dog-Harmony, Inc. is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization, made up of passionate and determined problem-solving dog lovers who want to make a difference using personalized and ongoing education, support, and training for people and dogs.
They take the hard work and emotional stress out of choosing the right dog by initially having you answer a questionnaire based on the ASPCA "Meet Your Match" program, discussing your needs with you and proposing only breeds that are right for you. Then they will suggest available dogs currently awaiting homes from local kill shelters or in situations where they need rehousing and will also work with you through the training process.
Ultimately, their goal is the same as yours and the same as your prospective new friend—to match the right home with the right dog.
