Evening of Spectacular Holiday Music at Village Baptist Church

Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF) presents Sounds of the Season 2016! The 21st annual Evening of Spectacular Holiday Music takes place at Village Baptist Church in Destin on Friday, Dec 2 at 7pm. 

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation and Destin Assembly of God, Destin First Baptist, Destin United Methodist and Village Baptist churches presents the 21st Annual Sounds of the Season on at Village Baptist Church in Destin. 

The Mattie Kelly Community Chorus is a diverse group of men and women from several local churches and residents in our community. The chorus will accompany Lori Jean Smith, The New River Quartet, John Taylor and the Village Band. Lori Jean Smith, an acclaimed violinist from Orlando, Florida is this year's acclaimed guest artist. Her motto, “Music from the soul, for the soul. Artistry with passion… there is no other way to play the violin (or life)” resounds in her work.

The chorus is open to all members of the community. To participate, join one of the following rehearsal schedules on Wednesday evenings: Destin United Methodist Church (Choir Room – 7:00 PM) and Village Baptist Church (Choir Room – 7:15 PM). A group rehearsal will be held on Saturday, November 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Village Baptist Church. A final rehearsal will be held on Thursday, December 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Village Baptist Church. 

Admission is a donation of an unwrapped child’s toy to be distributed among the participating church’s outreach ministries to provide a brighter Christmas for families in need during the holidays. A love offering at intermission will benefit the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s educational outreach initiatives benefiting students, children and families, including people with special needs and providing therapeutic art experiences to wounded warriors in Okaloosa and Walton counties.
