Enjoy a cocktail reception with artists Gary Patterson and Marion Barnes on Jan. 13 from 4-6 p.m. at Grayt Coffee House to kick off the week long art exhibit featuring works by this renowned duo. Paintings by Patterson and Barnes capture the powerful feelings expressed in the making of music, especially Jazz and Blues.
Their compositions incorporate many mediums including acrylic, watercolor, india ink, collage, and constructions. The expressions found in many of their paintings are heightened by the evocative use of a purposeful exaggeration and abstraction. What makes the paintings even more distinctive is that each painting is a collaborative effort between Patterson and Barnes.
Their popularity has quickly extended to corporate collections in the U.S. and Europe, and private collectors in New Orleans. They have created commissioned paintings for House of Blues, Northwest Airlines, Warner Avalon, and The Country Music Association headquarters, to name a few. This incredible exhibit will show in the coffee house and gardens Jan. 12-19 during Grayt Songwriters week.
