The Taylor Haugen Foundation was created to honor the memory of the 15-year-old Niceville High School student who passed away after an injury sustained during a football game on August 30, 2008. Proceeds from Savor The Season help support the Taylor Haugen Foundation’s YESS (Youth Equipment for Sports Safety) Program. The primary goal of the YESS Program is to reduce the number of sports-related abdominal injuries in middle and high school athletes. The YESS Program provides awareness of abdominal injuries and equips youth contact sports teams with the same technologically advanced safety equipment worn by professional and collegiate athletes. Working directly with school administrators, the THF Board of Directors actively participates in a variety of meetings and activities to present the benefits of wearing sports safety equipment. Through collaboration with vendors, the YESS program provides interested middle and high school athletic teams with matching grants to purchase “state of the art” safety equipment.
