Sign the Affidavit for Customary Use! Area Events

South Walton Locals & Visitors! Submit your written affidavit to show your support for Customary Use of our beaches! Florida Beaches For All has created pop up notary stations so that residents can submit affidavits, photographs, and documentation about how they have used the beaches for decades. Affidavits must be submitted by September 8. The group has collected 2,300+ affidavits so far. They hope to get at least 10,000. Labor Day weekend is a great opportunity for an affidavit blitz all around town.

Stop by one of the public beach accesses or one of many local businesses listed below. Volunteers are working throughout the Labor Day weekend at dozens of local spots for an affidavit blitz! Each place will have affidavits available and a notary free of charge. Sign the affidavit to help us take the beach back. Also, please plan to attend a public forum held by Walton County Board of County Commissioners at South Walton High School at 9am where will have a public hearing to affirm customary use and draft an ordinance. ​

The Walton County Board of County Commissioners is working to affirm recreational customary use of Walton County beaches. (South Walton towns from Inlet Beach through Miramar Beach). Walton County is requesting that the community participate by submitting affidavits as evidence of customary use that you have visited the beaches here in South Walton, Florida.  Every affidavit is needed so make sure to visit the South Walton County Annex or visit one of our local businesses hosting events through Sept 8 - the deadline. 

Customary Use: A doctrine that describes the inalienable right of people to walk upon and lawfully and respectfully use all beaches for recreation as they have for thousands of years.
