Lady D....Could it be possible that it was taken by a crotchety old neighbor who was tired of hearing the continuous sounds of a chainsaw? You would have to be using it often enough but I can see it being done. It gives me the creeps that someone would steal a chainsaw if not for that reason alone. Maybe this neighbor has been traumatized (see movie) and the mere sound of a chainsaw makes them do "crazy things."

No, I didn't do it.

Well, kloli, we don't use it hardly at all. It usually stays either in our basement or in our storage building. It has only been used one time before the other day in the backyard to cut up a tree back there. That was over a year ago. Judging from what walked down our street at the time we were out using it, it was taken and pawned probably for drug money. It has not had to be used up here very much. Chainsaws are heard around my neighborhood all the time, you pay for wanting yards with lots of trees.

I don't know why, but I was envisioning this all happening in Inlet Beach. I don't know what gave me the idea you lived there. This makes much more sense now. :bang: (I always wanted to use one of these)

I fell asleep once on our sofa downstairs with the dogs next to me. I happened to wake up around 2:00, and as I was getting ready to go up, I heard somebody try the door knob. We have blackout shades on the doors to block the sun so whoever it was did not know that I was there nor did he know about the dogs.

First thing to know about Bullmastiffs...They do not bark. They are stealth machines.
2nd thing to know...despite their size they are explosively fast.

I turned on the light, opened the door and sent Max outside. When he caught sight of the idiot running, the game was on. Max was between the guy and the gate he came in so he was forced to leap over an 8' fence just before Max caught him. He shredded his clothes going over.

I'm sure the rest of his posse is well aware of the dogs, now! I sleep very soundly!

I bet just the sight of Max scares off many would be burglars! I bet I'd clear a fence if he gave chase too!

My parents had me take our dog whenever I ran errands at night - as 75 lbs and big teeth riding shotgun is quite the deterrent to robbers or carjackers!

I think most thieves are probably just smart enough to not take the stuff to pawn shops these days. They just sell it for cheap on the black market to people who want huge discounts, and choose to ignore the fact that the items are probably stolen.
your rightSJ, at my son's transmission
shop people come by daily trying to sell hot stuff cheap. But even back in the 80's when I worked there we had people coming by selling stuff.
But my ex came over to cut some limbs for me not long ago,and had a nice looking ch ain saw that he had just purchased from a pawn shop.

 You are funny kloli. I wished I lived in Inlet Beach. That is where we vacation and I just love the spot where we rent. Wished we would have the money to buy where we stay.

Thanks Lady D. That may have been it...and seeing your avatar. I just didn't see a use for a chainsaw in Inlet Beach (maybe on the north side of 98). Then I really was thrown off with the kid that came running across the yards yelling for help from the sound of shotguns. Although I do recall reading a post on SoWal about something similar happening in Inlet Beach. So maybe it all kinda convinced me you were talking about Inlet Beach. Anyway, It is a great area....we looked at a few rentals in there for other family members. Hope you get your wish and good luck hunting down your chainsaw.
