So they basically said they would listen to the "public" about the vendor issue and went ahead with a big middle finger to us anyway?

How could this possibly be accurate and/or fair? Why are the vendors being catered to...and not the millions of people that want to enjoy the beaches of SoWal?

The same reason we have golf carts on our highways. And clear cutting our land. And leveling dunes for rentals. Paving our wetlands. Sign pollution. Noise pollution. Light pollution.

Weakness, incompetence and corruption in county government. The tail is wagging the dog.

In a recent story published by Watchdog News, Walton County was named the fastest growing local economy in a Wall Street 24/7 analysis of growth domestic product growth from 2012 to 2015.

Per the article, “Walton County recorded a 53 percent GDP growth rate over that three-year period, according to the study, which pegged the size of the county’s GDP at $2.5 billion. Its fastest growing industry was professional, scientific and management, the report found.”

The analysis looked at the top local economies by state throughout the US. Out of the 50 states, Walton County was ranked 13th in the country in growth percentage.

According to Walton County Economic Development Alliance Executive Director Bill Imfeld, “As great as this news is, it just underscores our need to stay ahead of the curve in providing Infrastructure and housing for the future.”

SoWal is controlled by decision makers North of the Bay. Historically, those North of the Bay saw SoWal as useless, except for whatever services related to the beach could be offered. "You can't grow anything down there" was the saying.

Today, the Powers' neighbors, friends, relatives have beach chair services, golf cart rentals, development companies, you get the drift.. So they are going to take care of those people. The SoWal residents are a bunch of newcomer whiners.

With little vision for the future, and little of the necessary infrastructure planned (other than carving roads through our state forests), the mentality seems to be "spend the lottery money till its all gone"

Point is, I don't see the beach chair vendor zones being reduced or eliminated in our lifetime.
