Man Believed Beaten in Freeport
Monday, April 09, 2007 - 03:32 PM
"Freeport, Fla - BankTrust employees found blood at the entrance door of their Freeport bank at 8:00 Monday morning, then called authorities. Next door, at around 9:30, neighbors found a man unconscious and bleeding under a canopy of a fruit stand. Now Walton County sheriff officials believe the man may have been attacked. Officials say they lifeflighted the unidentified man to Sacred Heart hospital where it's unclear whether the man will survive from his wounds. Caprice Caliendo and Billy Martin say they discovered the wounded man under the canopy when they walked near the fruit stand. "He was shaking like a leaf," says Martin, of the unconsious man. "He had blood all over his hands and he was shaking like, you know, he was having a siezure," added Caliendo.
The witnesses say the man appeared to be in his 50's, and they found him stripped down to his underwear. Authorities say they they are still investigating what happened to the man, and are not releasing his name until next of kin are notified."

Old man Cotton is no longer in his 50's, so if the story is accurate, it isn't him.
