What is a blog? The word comes from weblog - and simply means, writing on the web. For some it is a personal diary and for some it is about a particular topic or interest.

How are blogs different than threads and posts on the forum? Your blog is a place you can post text, photos, and videos that you want to keep together and have control of. Think of it as your own website. In fact, you could buy your own website name (i.e. www.yourwebsite.com) at a registrar like GoDaddy.com and direct it to your blog here on SoWal.com.

The SoWal.com blog system even allows you to add custom pages to your blog, so you really can create your own website!

The SoWal.com blog section is here - http://www.sowal.com/bb/blog.php

If you are a registered member, you have a blog already - go to the blog section and click on the link in the left hand column "your blog". Then just type or paste your message just like you were posting on the forums. People can respond to your blog postings, or you can turn reponses off if you like.

You'll also see links to customize your blog (click the blog control panel link on the left hand side of your blog) and other options like making your blog public or private (you can set it so that only people you want can see it like friends or family).

Tip: if you want your blog to match your customized profile page, click on customize blog, scroll to the bottom, and click "copy profile css" - and like magic they match!

You can even start a blog about a topic (like SoWal Parents) and invite others to post on "your" blog (see "blog groups on your blog control panel).

Ready to start blogging? Go ahead and make a scene - it's easy and funn!!!

Good call Kurt. Blogs are the simplest way for anyone to start building a presence online. I definitely recommend it! Blogs can also be embedded into your current website so that you can generate direct traffic to your site rather than referral traffic through an external blog. Both, however are extremely beneficial!
