Any ideas for a very small wedding at the beach. Getting a minister to marry a couple on the beach and then having a little party. Wanting to do this very inexpensively. Any ideas?

You need to be a little more specific about numbers etc.

Depending on numbers, renting a beach house (or several next to each other) and having a barbecue/cookout style dinner is the way to go.

But parking, noise restrictions, and numbers all affect the feasibility of that.

Heck, you could have quite the time if you had it out at Grayton and got a bonfire permit. :D

I have also been to nice weddings at Eden State Park and on a boat that left from Destin and traveled the bay during the ceremony and meal.

Just make sure that the owners/rental companies are okay with it. Nothing like being evicted during the couples first dance.

I think one amazing (and $$) wedding would be to rent out the Caliza Pool. Great space, plenty of parking, and the pictures would be amazing.

Here are my practical suggestions:

Marry on the beach at sunset, in garden at Pickets, one of the greenspaces in Alys, Seaside etc. in casual but nice clothes. Have an indoor back-up location in case of weather.

Bridesmaids/groomsmen all wear a dress/shirt from a national retailer/factory outlet store so they are all the same or an easy to find/match color.

Invitations & programs by arty family member or friend.

Reception at a home or restaurant where you have either the entire restaurant or a completely closed off area. Catered or limited pre-approved menu.

Cake (or a special dessert) by Publix, lady who lives near moderator Dia, Fatty Patty's or pastry chef at Gravel Road.

Cash bar w/ champagne toast or certain selected drinks provided (like wines w/ meal that you buy at Chan's and a keg of good beer).

Flowers/decor of votives, white lights, palmettos, shells, caladium, and other "yard plants." You can order flowers online and make bouquets for a fraction of the cost.

If going to the beach for the nuptials, remember to check with Walton County Planning (might actually be Code, who can keep up?) at 267-1955 to see if a beach wedding permit is required. Also, if either is a Florida resident, 3 day waiting period between marriage license & ceremony. 267-3066 for info on that. ;-)

Congrats to the happy couple!
