Hello all,
We are new to SoWal and learning as we go. We are from the mountains and currently looking out the window at about 6 inches of snow and now it is snowing again. We are wishing we were at the beach. We have purchased a camper and really like that area but being new to the camping scene we are not sure where to take our camper. We have looked at some of the state parks but need some advise. We like the beach, of course, and surf fishing. We like to find a good fresh fish market for steamed shrimp in the afternoons and like to find a fun local bar for drinks, music, and a good meal. Would like to walk to most places, no drinking and driving. The rest of the time we like to just blend in and act like we are locals. If anyone could suggest a place it would be very helpful. Would like a location that has electrical and water hook up and sewer if possible. We thank you for your time in advance.

Grayton Beach State Park is awesome. Grayton Beach State Park | SoWal.com - Guide For The Beaches Of South Walton & Scenic 30A

You can walk by beach or road to the Red Bar and several other bars and restaurants.

Click to see a map showing restaurants in Grayton Beach. The park is just to the right (east) of the lake. There are campsites with water and electric on the lake for small campers and a campground just off the lake for larger campers.

I suggest Grayton or Henderson over St. Andrews...

Grayton is very Nice and you may also want to check out Topsail Hill State Park. It is on the western end of CR-30A with a seafood market just down the road on HWY 98 and Stinkys about a mile down the road. They have a nice tram there that takes you from the campground to the beach also. Have fun whatever you decide. :D:D

If you can't get into those places, there are 3 places around Thomas Drive in PCB toward St. Andrews Park and there are a couple of places around Miramar Beach and San Destin - the other direction. My daughter and her family and friends have stayed at those. They had teen agers who enjoyed those other entertainments that 30A doesn't provide - but I certainly don't miss:) Ellen
