It's that time of the year! Please pay CLOSE attention while enjoying your outdoor activities... Last night we were called to the NEW childrens playground at Helen McCall park on Moll Drive. A concerned parent discovered a water moccasin "cotton mouth" coiled up at the base of a pole, on the playground near a slide. They stayed and watched it until we arrived and disposed of it.... It blended very well!

With our drought, snakes tend to move in to the water sources, because the things they like to eat like frogs and lizards, need that water. They just move with their food source, which during dry times, is typically anywhere there is running fresh water, like parks with watered ball fields. That snake could cause a nasty bite.

Be sure to watch out for your pets, too. My dog, Daisy, got snakebit last week while she was out playing in the yard. The snakes are definitely out and about right now!
