Someone contacted the FBI and told them a story about alleged dirty dealings. The FBI tried to tell them they are too busy to deal with small town politics. The person kept bugging them so the FBI finally said fine, send us what you got. It promptly went in to the round file.

People - this is just a bogus and petty escalation of a small town feud between a few egomaniacs. What a waste of our time and tax dollars.

Small time feuds may not be important to some people but at least the story brings to light the fact that some small time politicians and their benefactors have motives that aren't exactly in the best interest of taxpayers and citizens. Frankly, I can't see where a $6 million hangar for a Cessna Citation in Okaloosa county benefits but one person, since we're now discussing the waste of taxpayer money.

And do we need the FBI for this?

The FBI doesn't need to deal with it but state and local law enforcement doesn't seem to have the stomach to deal with it. Perhaps the FBI wouldn't be influenced by small time polticians who on a local level seem to be joined at the hip.

Maybe the FBI is investigating something that would fall within their jurisdiction. I'm not a lawyer or legal expert but there's plenty of monkey business in Walton County and Okaloosa county too. Former Alabama Governor Siegleman got into a deep dung and it all started with campaign contributions and if I'm not mistaken there was evidence of mail fraud. People who give lots of money to politicians want something. To shrug off corruption investigations as a waste of tax money is the root of the problem.

Yes it is a big deal!
FBI on
Public Corruption
Why It’s Our #1 Criminal Priority

It’s our top priority among criminal investigations—and for good reason.

Public corruption poses a fundamental threat to our national security and way of life. It impacts everything from how well our borders are secured and our neighborhoods protected…to verdicts handed down in courts…to the quality of our roads, schools, and other government services. And it takes a significant toll on our pocketbooks, wasting billions in tax dollars every year.
The FBI is singularly situated to combat this corruption, with the skills and capabilities to run complex undercover operations and surveillance.

And do we need the FBI for this?

We sometimes need an investigation to actually investigate dirty deals. You know, stuff like the Taj in Tallahassee where the taxpayers money was wasted and nobody was brought to justice because allies of 'small time politicians' look the other way at bribes and other criminal activity. State officials certainly don't seem to have the stomach for it. Former speaker Sansom didn't resign because he wanted to go play in the sand with his buddies.
