Anyone know why the forrestry division is clearcutting state land

Anyone know why state land is being clear cut? I can understand clearing under-story growth to prevent fires, but the clear cutting is horrendous!! Have they no value or concern for the wildlife they are displacing?!

Unfortunately, most of what you see is paper company trees. They will take what is ready and replant. Ever noticed how most of the trees between Grayton and Inlet Beach on 98 grow in perfect rows?

Quite a bit of state forest is being replanted with longleaf pines to recreate the forest we had before logging.
