I'm predicting the clarity will be fine. The forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies and a north breeze for the start of next week. We were out a couple of weeks ago and the north breeze pushed all of the tannin away from the shore. The good thing is, no rain in the forecast for next week. Safe travels and have a good one!

Thanks for the info, looking forward to a nice, relaxing, beautiful week.

As usual storms take sand from one place and move it to another. Some places have gains and some have losses depending on wind, waves, currents, topography, etc. In general everything gets flattened out and some of the sand from the sandbars gets deposited onshore. Our beaches are in great shape!

However the overall beach level is still very low since all the storms in 2004-2005-2006. For anyone interested in maintaining what we have, we need sand dredging (beach nourishment) or a even a relatively small storm like Isaac as a direct hit is going to cause serious problems. Dunes gone, seawalls, geotubes, and walkovers scattered, and homes toppled over onto the beach.

Having said all that. Our beaches are fine right now. If not for the crazy storms and rains the last few days (Isaac's ghost) the water would be calm and clear. As it is, it's muddy as it often is this time of year from summer storms.

Here's a pic from this morning at WaterColor. We are forecast to have great weather coming up so the water could be awesomely clear soon, but the beach is always enjoyable unless you have to dodge holes and chairs and tents and trucks and bulldozers.

The water is still turgid and not pretty and the surf is up. Red flags are flying and the sand on the beach has once again, as it always does, shifted so that our beach is less and Adagio's is more. Kurt is right. The situation will not be corrected until renourishment occurs. Brad Pickle said the earliest that will happen is 2014. Hope for no hurricanes.

Water is indeed brown but sand has moved back into the beach. Beautiful as usual though. Glad to be here.
