Seaside’s popular Escape To Create artist residency launches its 23rd season with the arrival of six artists selected from an international pool of applicants for the renowned creative retreat.

Seaside's 2014 Escape to Create performance season opens JANUARY 11th at 7:30pm at The
Seaside Repertory Theatre with a program featuring an artistic pairing of international art + awarded environmental journalism.

Mixed-media artist Jenny Krasner uses digital painting, photographic composites and drawing to create her unique form of visual ethnography that is housed in worldwide collections and exhibited in museums in China, France, and the U.S. Based on her experiences in the Middle Kingdom, Krasner will present her visually layered 'journal' created in response to the social, political, and environmental contradictions revealed during the process of rapid modernization.

Elam Stoltzfus' film tonight was great. They had an overflow crowd at the REP, and decided to bring him back tomorrow night for an encore. If you missed it tonight, you've got another opportunity. Don't miss it.

Last night's performances at the Rep were special. Jeannette Andrews' magic charmed, and no locals were needlessly sawed in half. Mark Lowrey is an especially good jazz pianist, with a remarkable command of the instrument. Both were a real treat.
