Children and teens respond well to improv and sketch comedy because it so fun! Students of Theatre Camp learn spontaneity, working together as a team, concentration, creativity, and self-confidence! Students have the freedom to interpret the exercises as they please and being unique, smart, and a little quirky is super cool.

What exactly do you DO in Theatre Camp?
Simply put, Theatre Camp is like an upbeat, funny and improvised acting class. Basically, improv is a form of comedy where the live audience gives the performers suggestions and then the performers work as a team to create stories and scenes off the top of their head. There are no prepared jokes and no lines to memorize because everything is made up on the spot. During Theatre Camp we spend time warming up with silly group exercises, learning longform improv where you build scenes from scratch and tie them together to other scenes, and how to play short-form improv games that can be performed in front of a live audience.

What if my child is shy or has never done anything like this?
That’s great! No improv or theatre experience is necessary, but kids who want to come should have serious interest in having fun and exploring their imagination. Shy children often respond very well to the instruction and are able to use class as an outlet for their creativity.

What should I bring/wear to Theatre Camp?
Students should dress however they’re comfortable.

This sounds so cool. Disappointed that it is during school hours which means only vacationing kids can participate.
