Platteborze is a former public defender in Walton County arrested in 2014 during an undercover drug sting called "Operation Avalanche."

Platteborze allegedly admitted to keeping drugs in his desk and was arrested for possession of oxycodone.

Walton County Sheriff's Investigators arrested 30 people in total on several charges including manufacture of methamphetamine, distribution of controlled substances including pharmaceutical medications, and conspiracy to manufacture meth.

Who are the other 29 arrestees?

The principal of the multi-tier organization, Charles Alford, plead guilty to racketeering and continuing criminal enterprise charges and was sentenced to 10 years in a state prison, followed by 10 years of probation. Alford’s prior attorney, former assistant public defender Leonard Platteborze, plead no contest to a racketeering charge and will be sentenced to seven years in a state prison, followed by a period of probation. Another participant, Erica Nowling plead no contest to racketeering charges and will be sentenced to at least three years and not more than seven years in a state prison, followed by a period of probation. 44 year old Glen Mel Hunter and 24 year old Brittany Cecile Via Tuesday at a home in Choctaw Beach.
35 year old Charlie "CJ" James Rhodes and 41 year old Sabrina Marie Thompson on meth-related charges.
Glen Mel Hunter, 44, of Eastern Street, Freeport, was arrested for drug production, trafficking in methamphetamine, narcotic equipment possession and conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine. Charlie “CJ” James Rhodes, 35, of Pine Hill Road, DeFuniak Springs, and Sabrina Marie Thompson, 41, of S 18th Street, DeFuniak Springs, were both charged with the production of methamphetamine and drug possession.

The following individuals were identified throughout the course of the investigation who were involved in the manufacture of methamphetamine, distribution of controlled substances including pharmaceutical medications and conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine by providing precursor or listed chemicals necessary to produce the drug.
