Buc, a sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle has been medically cleared to be released at 9:00 am
Thursday October 6th in Panama City Beach. The release will take place across from Carousel Supermarket on Front Beach Rd. Buc has been under Gulf World Marine Institute care since its stranding on July 29th. The sea turtle was discovered by a Panama City resident who reported that it was floating and struggling in Johnson Bayou. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) was there to assist in the rescue of the sea turtle. Buc suffered from a foreign body impaction that caused him to float unevenly. After treatment from Veterinary staff that included antibiotics and mineral oils, Buc is swimming normally and has been medically cleared to be released into the Gulf of Mexico. The public and media are invited to attend this event.
