Anyone know how close (how long it takes to walk over) the Beachside Villas access is to the Eastern Lake outfall? We stayed at Eastern Shores last year and the kids favorite part of playing in the lake outfall area. We found a great deal at the Beachside Villas and are considering there. We also like a place at Commodores Retreat but it is a 1 bedroom / 1 bath vs a 2 bedroom 2 bath for $700 more. I do wonder if it's worth it though to be oceanfront... Anyhow, the lake looks close on the map. I am hoping close enough to walk down to everyday.

Eastern Lake
Probably about 1/2 mile. Sounds like a lot, but it's a beautiful place to stroll.

Beachside Villas is a nice half mile stroll to Eastern Lake a really great option for budget, you can put the extra money towards eating out perhaps. Beachfront II we've found is another equally appealing slightly off beat option like Beachside Villas, that can't be beat in South Walton for value. You mentioned Commodore's Retreat in your post, and for a a bit more money, you can be oceanfront, and right there on Eastern Lake outfall, so all are great options, but Commodore's Retreat is unique in that its been completely restored, and is right adjacent to the outfall, and unlike its neighboring condo's to the east of it, also has a pool for refreshing dip after time at the beach. Beachfront II and Beachside Villas also have pools though, you really can't go wrong with this area, so central on 30A but you still get the seclusion and dune lake access quintisential to what a South Walton vacation ought to be.
