Unlocked car burglaries have been going on for months, it isn't a spring break thing. My impression is that WCSO is getting rather frustrated that people still don't lock their vehicles despite repeated warnings.

If people won't lock their vehicles, could they please at least stop leaving guns in them?

100% preventable........by this logic, all crimes are preventable. If the car is locked, is it your fault they broke the window? According to WCSO, yes, yes it is.

But they aren't breaking windows. They don't want whatever they are taking that badly. The reason things are being stolen from vehicles is that the doors were not locked. Kids used to call it "car hopping," don't know if that's the current term or not.
If they start breaking windows to get in, that's a different level of intent.
