AGENDA ITEM TUESDAY @ THE SEPTEMBER 11 BCC MEETING

There is a travel request for C. Jones and T. Anderson to travel to Clearwater Fl. FOR THE FSBPA Annual Conference. (FLORIDA SHORE AND BEACH PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE)

COST $947.00 each x 2 = $1,894.00 (Taxpayer Money)

Why is an outgoing County Commissioner (with 2 months left of her term) going to a conference on beach preservation that addresses the growing problem of beach erosion when CU is the larger issue and beach re-nourishment has all but been stopped by the First District Court which determined that the Beach and Shore Preservation Act resulted in an unconstitutional taking of upland owners' rights to accretions and to contact with the water.

For those who follow the BCC Agenda it's Item # 8

She has absolutely no business going to this meeting. There are no beaches in the district she ruled over and no one knows how the ethics thing will work out. Why throw her an all expense paid going away party?

Pretty sure she was not pushing very hard 4 years ago for the failed ( again because of Gulf front land owners) re-nourishment..

And that price you see is probably just for the rooms ($405per night but they will probably get a discount since the conference is being held at the resort (Hyatt Regency Clearwater) not to mention what they will put on the county credit card.
