World Central Kitchen has fed thousands of meals to first responders and victims of the devastating storm that hit Northwest Florida. The crew was on the ground in Bay County before the hurricane hit land preparing to set up a long-term food relief effort as they do in disasters all over the world.

Chef Jose Andres established World Central Kitchen in 2010 as a way to help communities recover from disaster with nutritious food. They were on the ground in Puerto Rico for more than six months. And have just wrapped up operations in North Carolina after Hurricane Florence.

Emeril Lagasse visited his friend Jose last week and helped prepare hot meals for first responders and hurricane victims in Panama City.

You can follow their work on Facebook for updates and locations. They are asking for daily volunteers in the field to expand their kitchen relief.

There is still tremendous need to support communities impacted by Hurricane Michael with the comfort of a hot meal. Donate now to help us purchase ingredients and supplies critical to our operations and help us reach our goal of 300,000 meals! worldcentralkitchen.org

Oct 19 World Central Kitchen
Yesterday we cooked and delivered thousands of hot meals across the Panama City area. As the days go by, people are getting more desperate for help without electricity or water. We continue to expand our operation to reach more neighborhoods in the hardest hit areas. #ChefsForFlorida

Any updates?
I haven't seen any updates lately. They were literally on the ground in the Panama City area since before the storm hit. My guess is that they are serving in another part of the world by now. I love Chef Andres and this group of people feeding thousands during disaster..

His World Central Kitchen has served meals to millions in need

Chef José Andrés has been nominated for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize for his work with disaster relief through his non-profit organization World Central Kitchen.

The Spanish-born chef, restaurateur, author, and humanitarian founded World Central Kitchen in 2010 and in the eight years since its creation, have served hot meals to millions in disaster zones and difficult situations. Andrés and World Central Kitchen were responsible for feeding more than a reported 3 million Americans in Puerto Rico following the devastation of Hurricane Maria.

World Central Kitchen has also helped feed those in need after natural disasters in Houston, Texas, the Carolinas, and most recently, California, where they’ve been feeding the victims of the deadly wildfires sweeping the state, including an epic Thanksgiving dinner, where Andrés recruited local and celebrity chefs like Guy Fieri and Tyler Florence to feed 15,000 survivors of the California Camp Fire.
