Our friend and co-worker Molly Parker was in a terrible car accident on December 12 as she was traveling from Santa Rosa Beach to Georgia to be with her family. She remains in critical condition in a Dothan hospital.
Molly was airlifted to the Trauma Center at Southeast Alabama Medical Center, two hours from their home in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. She immediately underwent a craniectomy to relieve some of the pressure on her brain. Since then she has been in the neuro ICU where they have been working on stabilizing her temperature, heart rate, and electrolytes, preventing seizures, monitoring her blood loss, and controlling her pain. Along with her critical brain injury, she sustained fractures of her breastbone, rib bones, vertebrae, ankle, and facial bones. She's had a CT scan each day to monitor the swelling on her brain. As of this afternoon, the swelling has not changed since yesterday. She's unconscious but has been responding at times to pain. gofundme
Molly has worked with Kurt and our team as a full time photographer and staff member at Moon Creek Studios and SoWal.com since 2015. She's a friend, excellent photographer, enthusiastic team member and joyful/loving/caring person. Many of our local businesses and associates know Molly and always enjoy working with her while she snaps photos for stories, events or vacation rentals, over the past several years.
Molly is a lover of life as well as huge enthusiast of beaches, music, yoga, her son and family, art and photography, and all holiday celebrations. She has touched the lives of many friends here in Santa Rosa Beach and far beyond. The outpouring of love and support has been a reminder of how special our community truly is during such a difficult time for one of our own.
Molly is 35 years old, she's a mother, wife, daughter, sister... with a big family surrounding her since the accident. Molly and her family continue to need prayers and strength. Her condition remains critical and will face a long term recovery.
If you know Molly and would like to follow updates on her recovery, please see her CaringBridge journal which is lovingly updated every day by her sister-in-laws.
